Everything was just perfect! This is a trully spotless place! We liked absolutely everything location, room. Looking forward to staying again. The Pioneer River is just a 2-minute walk away. The room was spotless. I've never seen a room so clean before. It offers air-conditioned rooms with free Wi-Fi. Place looks very old school which I loved. Spanish themed building that looked really cool.

My trips to Mackay have only been for one night each time as I have been passing through to a further destination. I would love to explore the place some more though as it is quite a big place and I'm sure it has lots to offer. Each time we visit Mackay though, a highlight is taking my children to Bluewater Lagoon.
Wwe schedule extra time into our journey to allow maximum time here. If you have children of any age this place is a must. Unbelievably it is free!! It has a water slide yes adults can go on it too! There is an area for younger children too with a great water activity feature that has a huge pouring bucket, slides etc.
There is a small kiosk, and lockers are available for hire. There's plenty of shaded areas and plenty of lifeguards on duty to keep an eye on things. A real must for the family!!

We liked Mackay could have had a few extra days maybe to visit Brampton island. It is very easy to get around. The Restaurants available are awesome. The shopping centre has every shop you would ever want. A lovely tropical city with plenty to see and do- shopping, cinema, Great Barrier Reef on the doorstep and island resorts are within easy reach by boat. Good food- I highly recommend Ba Na Thai and Sorbellos Italian- yum Mackay streets follow a mainly grid pattern and are easy to navigate - very safe place to walk day or night.
Couldn't believe the size of Canelands - excellent for those who love to shop.
Flying fox adventure was fantastic, as was the pie we had at the pub on the way out there. Disappointed the museum was closed, as webpage stated it should have been open, and no indication why it was closed. We are from Perth, WA. Shopping is great, Canelands and mount pleasant, the blue lagoon pool in the heart of the city is awesome. The eateries are plentyful and varied all very family or couple friendly. Then the islands and coast is fantastic.

Well worth the visit. I am on my way to Townsville and we decided to stay in Mackay for a few days. Very relaxing by the beach. Lovely places to visit. My favourite place was driving to the Mackay Marina and then Slade Point.
