The issue is sending them there. Even if they are volunteering themselves, if the government knows they will be infected they shouldn't be allowing them to go otherwise its negligence. I'm being serious and I'm genuinely surprised that people think this is an ok plan.
We don't want them here in summer and we shouldn't be putting our whole community at risk by sending our people there. The virus is too contagious. They helped us over summer.. Firies are the most decent humans around and unlike some Aussies who have proven themselves as mega cunts in this pandemic, are probably happy to help.
I assume they will be given accommodation in a bubble and given necessary PPE. They'll have to quarantine coming back but after fighting some major fires might welcome the two weeks off.

We help them every year and they help us too. We're going to need their help again too, so we're going to want them to want to help us. This is a really shitty moral dilemma isn't it? They helped us a lot during our season and risked their lives. If I remember right an American firefighter was killed near Canberra. But also fuck sending our firefighters to that disease riddled hell hole and risking bringing it back here.
Circumstances are significantly different. Contained in one state. Brought in by Hotel Quarantine. Victoria is on track to be back to no community transmission by the time they would return. One of them might have been killed, which is really unfortunate, but I'm sure we did everything we could to protect them.
