Enjoyable and cosy experience. This is a quaint little bar with lots of character. Stephen the owner and his staff are extremely welcoming and create a very relaxed area. After being there for a drink, it will feel like everyone knows your name. They have a good selection of beers, wines and spirits.
Even though it is small, it has a smokers area out the back. If your looking for a cosy place for a drink and a relaxed atmosphere, try it if your in the area.

We have lived in the area for a decade and frequented this bar on a number of occasions, we've never been overly happy with the atmosphere, it is old, dirty and the owner is an overweight angry man but it has been convenient and we love to support the local community. On this occasion, we've just finished working on a property across the road and thought to stop for a beverage.
We were told they had a dress policy after the first drink, no high visibility outfits after a certain time, rude, arrogant and egotistical, definitely a place to avoid, very sad for such a progressive community. Avoid at all costs. Date of experience: June I'm sorry that our dress policy offends you. We are not a public bar and as such we ask ask our patrons to be respectful of others regarding their dress. It is a pity that the reviewer had to to stoop to personal insult to make their point.
The point that the area is progressive is true which is why we request our patrons to be attired respectfully as was calmly explained to the reviewer. However the person chose not to listen through their anger.

This long standing gorgeous Elwoodian gem is definitely still worthy of a shout out. The variety of wines and spirits is vast and impressive, and the staff they have these days are certainly up to spec with their products. It's the perfect kind of place to dive into a bottle of red on a cold night, and chill with a few Prosecco's in the summer heat.
